Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals will require you to review a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle pickup. This agreement outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your responsibilities for the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Hindley, drivers must be a minimum of 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for those under 25. A valid driving license, appropriate for the vehicle category and held for the duration outlined in the Rental Agreement, is required. Renters must also present valid identification and proof of current address, along with payment information and a security deposit. Additional requirements may be specified in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- You can make reservations via our website, by calling us, or by visiting our Dartford office. To confirm your booking, a deposit may be necessary. Full payment along with a security deposit is usually required at the time of vehicle pickup. All charges are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards, ensuring secure transactions through trusted payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting your vehicle, it is essential to conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be created and signed by both parties. Please return the vehicle in the same condition as it was provided, taking into account normal wear. Any new damage will be evaluated, and applicable charges may be applied. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same level of fuel as at the time of collection; otherwise, refueling fees will be incurred. If you foresee a delay in returning the vehicle, please contact us as soon as possible, as late returns may result in extra charges. You are liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that occur during your rental period, plus an administration fee.
5. Coverage and Responsibility
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to limit your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for damages or loss up to the excess amount unless you opt for extra insurance. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violations of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ depending on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited uses of the rental vehicle:
- The vehicle must not be used for illegal activities, including racing, off-roading, or any dangerous maneuvers. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unapproved drivers is not allowed. Operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs is forbidden. Ensure compliance with passenger and weight limits, and do not drive outside designated areas without prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Hindley Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will be limited to the rental amount paid in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts.
Updates to Terms
Hindley reserves the right to amend these Terms at any time. Updates take effect immediately upon their publication on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your agreement to the modified Terms.
